BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union (Ky.) netted a pair of goals less than 10 minutes apart from each other in the first half of play on Sunday afternoon to take the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)-opening bout for both teams by the count of 2-0.
It was a high-octane attack on both sides of the ball for each team as the squads combined for 38 shots and 10 shots each on-goal, but Reinhardt (1-4, 0-1 AAC) just couldn't capitalize on the multitude of chances in the battle.
The loss was the Eagles' fourth in-a-row.
Of the hometown team's 15 attempts at scoring, Taylor Gray had four and Aaron Whitten recorded a trio of shots. Not to be outdone, Jeremy Jaeger recorded a pair as well.
Niko Tzevelekos made eight stops in 90 minutes of action.
League play at home begins on Wednesday as the Skyhawks of Point (Ga.) come to town for a 7:30 p.m. matchup following women's action between the two schools.
