Eagles Drop First Conference Match to Warner Royals 3-1
Lake Wales, FL – Coming off a dominating previous weekend with a 3-game sweep over Campbellsville, Rio Grand, and Morehouse, the Reinhardt men's volleyball team was back in this past Friday, February 3rd. The Eagles were matched up against the Warner Royals, who were previously voted as #1 in the AAC. Reinhardt started off with control in the first set and won 25-20 respectively. Then the Royals of Warner University decided to punch back the next set and kept up their momentum through the rest of the match. Warner ultimately clenched this AAC win 3-1 over this Reinhardt team (25-20, 23-25, 17-25, 20-25). The Eagles offense found most of their success in Rightside, Victor Pacheco, and Outside, Rodolfo Biegelmeyer. These two players have been the offensive key so far thus season for the Eagles, dominating every game. While this was not the outcome the Eagles wanted, they will get another crack at home versus the Royals later on in the season. This will be a quick turnaround for Reinhardt as they continue their on-the-road trip to Webber University the following day. The Reinhardt Eagles are currently 0-1 in their conference play and 3-1 overall.
Thoughts from Coach B:
"Tonight we played my preseason pick to win the conference and they didn't disappoint. We can't to get the video and learn from this match. We had a great start in the first two sets. Huts resounded really well pulling out set 1 and outplaying a very good Warner offensively in the first two stanzas! Warner really got into a great flow offensively in set 3 pulling away from us and finishing us off in set 4. To their credit, they served much better tonight than they did their first two matches. It made a big difference in tonight's match and they had out of the system a lot.
We went 0-1 tonight but we are back to 0-0 and will try and go 1-0 tomorrow! Even in a loss all the Honor and Glory go to God!"
