Brunswick, GA – Reinhardt softball was unsuccessful today in a doubleheader versus Coastal GA. The Eagles lost the first game 8-4, and then was defeated the second game 5-4 in an 8-inning game. The Eagles now sit with a record of 9-5 and are still undefeated in conference play of 4-0. The Eagles look to bounce back this weekend at home with 2 AAC doubleheaders coming up.
Game One: Reinhardt 4, Coastal GA 8
Coastal GA got off to an early lead, scoring 2 runs after the 1st inning. Coastal Ga then extended their lead 8-1 after the 5th inning. The Eagles's bats started heating up in the top of the 6th, scoring 3 more runs but came up short in the end, ultimately losing the first game 8-4. After a home run from Kyra Lightner just the day before, she was able to hit 2-3 and had 2 RBIs this game. Emily Loveless and Molly Stevens each also recorded a RBI.
SCORING PLAYS:
- Kyra Lightner singled to left field and was able to get Eryn Lee across home plate for their first run. (4th inning, 1-5)
- Emily Loveless also singled to left field, Alexis Teems scored. (6th inning, 2-8)
- Kyra Lightner hit another shot to shortstop, Emily Loveless scored. (6th inning, 3-8)
- Lastly, Molly Stevens singled up the left side, allowing Kylie Freije to home. (6th inning, 4-8)

Game Two: Reinhardt 4, Coastal GA 5
Reinhardt was down 2-0 up until the 4th inning, where they scored 1 run and then 2 more in the 5th. At this point, they were up 3-2 going into the last inning of the game. Coastal GA then scored the tying run at the bottom of the 7th, forcing the game to go into extra innings. Reinhardt scored 1 but Coastal answered back, scoring the 2 deciding runs to give them the win 5-4 over Reinhardt. Taylor Wade was 3-4 and Emily Loveless recorded 2 RBIs. Zoe Porche and Ansley Evan also had an RBI.

Then, the following day, March 11th, the Eagles will be matching up against Montreat College at home at 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
