The Eagles Split with Columbia College but Remain #1 in Conference Play

COLUMBIA, SC.- The Reinhardt Eagle softball team traveled to play in a home double-header versus the Columbia College Koalas on Friday night. The Eagles ultimately split the 2-game series with the Koalas, taking the first game 5-2 and then losing the second 3-2. The Eagles are continuing to have a great season so far with an overall record of 17-9 and are still sitting at No. 1 in the conference with an AAC record of 12-2.
Game One: Reinhardt 5, Milligan 2
Game one saw Reinhardt scoring the first 3 runs of the game in the 1st inning. Kylie Freije hit a single to second base, allowing Alexis Griffith to score. The other two runs came from an error by the Koalas. Then in the 3rd inning, Kyra Lightner singled to left field while Emily Loveless made her way across home plate. Then, Ansley Evans hit a shot to right field getting Kylie Freije to be up 5 runs to nothing. The Columbia Koalas were able to get a run in each the 5thand 6th inning but it wasn't enough. Reinhardt ultimately took game one 5-2 over the Koalas.

Game Two: Reinhardt 2, Milligan 3
Game two saw a different outcome for the Eagles, as Columbia came from behind to outscore Reinhardt 3 runs to 2. In the 2nd inning, Ansley Evans homered with an RBI, then Emily Loveless hit a double to right field to score in Alexis Griffith in the 3rd. With Reinhardt up 2-0, the Koalas struggled to get anyone home up until the 6th inning, where a Koala player hit a double down the LF line to score in 3 runs.
