No. 1 Eagles Sweep No. 2 KCU in Home Double Header
WALESKA, GA.- The Reinhardt Eagle softball team are ranked at No. 1 in the AAC and was set to play the No. 2 team, the Kentucky Christian Knights at home on Tuesday evening. The Eagles had a successful day, going 2-0 over the Knights, with the first game being scoreless up until the the 9th inning when Reinhardt was able to score the deciding run. Then the momentum carried through to the second game, where the Eagles scored every inning to go up 13-0 to end the game in 5 innings. Junior, Emily Loveless, had a memorable day, hitting her 200th career hit in the first game and then turned around and hit her 30th career home-run in the second. After a dominating sweep, the Eagles are still sitting at first in conference play with an AAC record of 16-2 and are 21-9 overall. Reinhardt is also currently receiving votes for the NAIA Top 25.
Game One: Reinhardt 1, KCU 0
Game one saw a very slow start for both teams struggling to get anyone across home plate, forcing the game to extra innings with a score of 0-0. Reinhardt ultimately had 13 hits but it wasn't until the bottom of the 9th inning that the Eagles scored the final and deciding run. Ashley Young hit a triple to right field to get into scoring position, then Alexis Teems hit a single to center field to allow Young to score the final and deciding run to win game one 1-0.
Leaders:
- Kyra Lightner led the Eagle offense, going 3-4 at bat. Taylor Wade and Ansley Evans each had 2 hits.
- Alexis Teems recorded the winning RBI single.
- In the first inning, Emily Loveless had a double to right field, to record her 200th career hit.
- Whitney Shepherd pitched all 9 inning innings and had 4 strikeouts and only allowed 4 hits.

Game Two: Reinhardt 13, KCU 0
The Eagles were all over the scoreboard in game two, scoring a run in every inning of the game. The Eagles got off to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Eagles were able to score 4 more in the 2nd inning, including a home run with 2 RBIs from Emily Loveless. Then, with another run in the 3rd and 7 more in the 4th, forced the game to end early at 5 innings. Reinhardt ultimately won 13-0 and had 14 total hits.
Leaders:
- Kylie Frejie and Ashley Young each went a perfect 3-3 at bat, while Kyra Lightner went 2-2 and scored 3 runs.
- Emily Loveless led in RBIs with 3 and also had a homer in the 2nd inning, recording her 30th career home-run.
- Alexis Griffith and Molly Stevens each stole a base.
- Ally Andriano was the winning pitching for the Eagles with 2 strikeouts and only allowed 3 hits.
