Eagle Softball Continue Win Streak With 2 Game Sweep Over Johnson
KNOX COUNTY, TN.- After beating No. 2 KCU just the day before, the Reinhardt Eagles softball team traveled to Johnson University to defeat the Royals 2-0. The Eagles dominated in both games, winning the game one 8-0 and then won game two 5-0. The Eagles are sitting at No. 1 in the conference with an outstanding record of 18-2. Reinhardt is also receiving votes for the NAIA Top 25 and are dominating their season with a 6-game winning streak.
Game One: Reinhardt 8, Johnson 0
Game one saw Reinhardt off to an early 1-0 lead with a double from Emily Loveless. The Eagles were then able to go up by 3 more runs in the 4th inning with a double from both Kyra Lightner and Ansley Evans. While the Royals struggled to get a player across home-plate, the Eagles had a great 7th inning to score four more runs to clench game one 8-0. Kylie Freije, Taylor Wade, and Kyra Lightner each had a single hit in the 7th inning to help the Eagles to the first win of the two-game series.

- Taylor Wade led the Eagle offense, going 2-4 at bat with 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs for her team.

Game Two: Reinhardt 5, Johnson 0
Game two saw the same outcome as game one, where Reinhardt was able to get up early and the RU defense managed to keep the Johnson Royals from scoring for the entirety of the game. The first run of the game for the Eagles came in the 3rd inning when Emily Loveless hit a ball up the middle of the field to allow her team to go up 1-0. Then in the 4th inning, Kyra Lightner had a solo homerun to go up 2-0. Kylie Freije singled up the middle to stretch out the lead some more. Finally in the 7th inning, Reinhardt was able to go up 5-0 due to an error by Johnson as well as another hit from Kyra Lightner. Reinhardt ultimately won 5-0 to sweep the Royals in a two-game series.

- Kyra Lightner had a great day, going 2-3 at bat with 2 RBIs and a solo homerun. Kylie Freije also played great, going 3-3 at bat with an RBI and scored a run.
- Emily Loveless also recorded an RBI.
- Alexis Griffith and Eryn Lee each stole a base.
- Ally Andriano was the winning pitching for the Eagles with 7 strikeouts, pitched 58 strikes, and only allowed 4 hits.
