The Eagles Advance In AAC Tournament With Win Over Milligan 2-0
KINGSPORT, TN. - The Reinhardt Eagles Softball team is playing in the 2023 AAC Softball Tournament this week in Kingsport, TN. The Eagles earned the right to be ranked at No. 1 heading into the tournament and was set to play the No. 8 seed, the Milligan University Buffalos on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles won the game 2-0 to move on to the next round of the AAC Tournament and will be playing the following day on Thursday, April 27th versus No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan. The Eagles now have an outstanding record of 32-9 overall with an AAC record of 26-2.
How it Happened: Reinhardt 2, Milligan 0
This game saw a slow start for both teams as neither team was able to get on the scoreboard until the 4th inning when Reinhardt's Molly Stevens hit a sacrifice fly to get Kylie Freije across home plate for the first run of the game. Then Ansley Evans was next up at bat and bunted a great ball to get Kyra Lightner to home to go up 2-0. Evans also had a nice hit earlier in the game that resulted in a double. While there were no other runs, the Eagles had 4 total hits with just 1 error.

- Ansley Evans led the Eagle offense, going 2-2 at bat and added an RBI. Kylie Freije and Taylor Wade also recorded a hit.
- Molly Stevens added the other RBI.
- Alexis Teems recorded a stolen base.
- Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher with 54 total strikes and only allowed 2 hits.
