Waleska, Ga. - On Wednesday afternoon, the #5 ranked Eagles were hosting a conference game with Brenau University who were coming in with a winless record. It would not take long for Reinhardt to display their superiority, skill, and athleticism in the game. The definite highlight of the game was senior Morgan McGhee's 200th career goal in her career at Reinhardt University. She would hit the 200th mark early in the game and add to it as the game went on. McGhee would have 4 goals in the game which was tied with the lead with Jillian Mello and Shelby O'Neil. McGhee would have 5 assists and 4 ground balls as well. Besides this being Morgan McGhee's 200th career goal, she is also the Reinhardt Eagles All-Time Leading Scorer in Women's Lacrosse.
In the game, the scoring barrage by the Eagles would happen fast. The Eagles hit the 10 goal mark with about five minutes left in the first quarter when Adriana Talkington was assisted by Morgan McGhee. All the "heavy-hitters" were contributing to the scoring and assists being put on the Golden Tigers. As mentioned above, McGhee, O'Neil, and Mello would lead the way with four goals each. Talkington would be close behind with 3 goals. In addition to these goals, Freshmen Rayna Rivera, Angelina Ruiz, and KC Bragg all scored their first collegiate career goals.
The Eagles never looked back after their first goal which happened in the first minute of the game by Mia Griswold. Although it was not the most competitive game, it had its importance because of the many milestones and special moments that were achieved in the game. Many younger players saw some good minutes in the game which should help them going forward. The team veterans did their jobs and put the game away early. There will be other games in the near future that will be more competitive, but the team will get to enjoy the accomplishments of Morgan McGhee and also know that the future is secure with quality young players as well.
The team will be on the road this Saturday visiting Tennessee Wesleyan at 1 pm in Athens, TN. The next home game will be on Wednesday, March 23rd when SCAD Savannah visits Ken White Field.
