Eagles Win Big in Tennessee!
David Finney
Athens, TN - Eagles Women's Lacrosse has shown their dominance in the first part of this spring season. They are 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Their only loss was a narrow one-point loss to Life University which very well could have gone the other way. Tennessee Wesleyan was the next opponent on the schedule and the Eagles would take little time to show them why they are a #5 ranked team in the NAIA.
The Eagles would shut the door right away in this game as they would come out and score 13 goals in the first quarter alone. At the end of the first, the Eagles would lead 13-1. They added 5 in the second quarter to increase their lead to 18-2 and they never looked back.
Ann-Marie Gazzo would strike first for the Eagles getting an unassisted goal inside the first two minutes. The scoring was well-balanced and came from a wide variety of players. Jillian Mello would lead the way with 3 goals in the first quarter. Gazzo would add another two goals to her other two goals from the first quarter. The game was over by the second quarter and just like the previous game with Brenau University - Reinhardt was able to get everyone some action in this game.
The Eagles went on to score 4 goals in the third quarter and 3 goals in the fourth quarter. They held Tennessee Wesleyan to zero goals in the third, however, they did give up a couple in the fourth. Jessie Landers would only see one-quarter of action in this game, but she did have a save on a couple of shots. Landers would pick up the win in the game.
Anna-Marie Gazzo would lead the Eagles in scoring with 6 goals to go with 2 assists. Alyssa Klinger and Jillian Mello would be close with 4 goals each and Kelsey Sowa added 3 goals. Morgan McGhee would lead the way with 6 assists with Macy Fulton coming up right behind her with 5 assists.
Reinhardt will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon with a conference match with SCAD Savannah. The game will be at 5 pm at Ken White Field.
