Eagles Pick Up Midweek Win at Truett-McConnell
Cleveland, GA - Reinhardt Baseball continued its road schedule on Wednesday with a single game with Truett-McConnell. The Eagles came away with a solid 10-2 win with a great performance from both the pitching and hitting.
The Eagles sent four pitchers to the mound against the Bears with each of them having some success. Jordan Hampton would get the start and go two innings giving up just one hit and striking out two. He did give up one run in his two innings.
Parker Miller would go next pitching and he would get in two innings as well striking out two. He did give up five hits, but only one run would score. Hal Stelljes would come in for the fifth inning and pitch through the seventh. He probably had the most success of the four pitchers as he would strike out three bears and give up zero hits. Stelljes has had a few really good appearances for the Eagles and could be an important piece as the pitching rotation takes form going into the conference tournament and NAIA playoffs.
Blake Rogers would come in to close things out in the eighth and ninth innings and he would have a lot of success as well. As one of the hardest throwers on the squad and with his massive size on the mound, he can strike fear in any batter that he faces. Rogers would strike out one batter and give up zero hits in his two innings as he finished things up for the Eagles.
At the plate, the hot bats of the Eagles kept producing for Coach Burton's squad. Jarrett Burney, Dylan Lews, and Lance Dockery all homered in the game creating five of the ten runs for the Eagles. Lewis homered in the third inning which would score Zach Rabe. Burney homered in the seventh inning, which ironically, scored Rage as well.
Dockery's homerun came in the eighth inning and it was a solo shot for the Eagles. Dockery led the Eagles in hitting going 3 for 5.
