Eagles Sweep the Series with Union
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Baseball has been able to stay fairly consistent this season with AAC opponents winning a majority of the series and accumulating a 16-4 record so far with only three series to go. They currently are sitting in third place just one game back of #2 Bryan College and four games back of #1 Tennessee Wesleyan.
The Eagles have a series with both coming up in the next couple of weeks so they control their own destiny in the final conference standings. Reinhardt was able to sweep another series on Thursday and Friday this week beating Union in three games. Game three was a wild one at Ken White Field where the Eagles needed to come from behind to get the win, 9 to 6.
Jordan Hampton would get the start for the Eagles in game three and he started off throwing the ball well, but he did give up two runs in the first inning. After that, he had two scoreless innings before giving up the final four runs to the visiting Bulldogs in the fourth inning. Parker Miller would come in to get the Eagles out of the fourth and he would finish out the game and pick up the win. Hampton finished with 6 strikeouts and 3 earned runs.
Miller had a very good game shutting down Union in the fifth through ninth innings. He held the Bulldogs scoreless and only gave up 3 hits the rest of the way. He had 5 strikeouts and one walk.

Offensively, it took a while for the bats to get going. They started scoring in the second inning when the bases were loaded and Alex Coulter was hit by a pitch, which scored Jarrett Burney. The Eagles picked up two more runs in the third on a Dylan Lewis solo home run and then Zach Rabe singled to left to score Jarrett Burney.
The fourth inning was highlighted by a triple from the super-hot bat of Tucker Zdunich. The triple scored Burney and then Zdunich made it home after a sac fly by Lance Dockery. The fifth inning would be the last either team would score the rest of the game. The big hits for the Eagles came from two home runs - which were hit by Zach Rabe and Alex Coulter. Rabe's home run was a 3 RBI bomb that floated over the left field fence scoring Burney and Lewis. Courter's home run was a rip to left field as well - but this was a line drive homer that left Ken White Field fast.
This big inning gave the Eagles the lead of 9 to 6 which was enough for Miller to finish out the game to put the Eagles' overall record at 26-11. Miller's record goes to 3-1 for the season.
Next up for the Eagles is a single home game with Middle Georgia on Tuesday and then the road series at Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday/Saturday next weekend.
