DAYTON, Tenn. – Joseph Daulby of Union (Ky.) was the only offense of the day as he lifted the Bulldogs over the Eagles, 1-0, in a neutral-site contest in Tennessee on Sunday.
The Union goal, which was the match-winner at 34:07, was made after Niko Tzevelekos saved a shot – but it went right back to Daulby – who made No. 19 Reinhardt pay with a netted attempt.
"I am grateful to our hosts at Bryan College for allowing our rescheduled match to take place, as well as the sports information director from Tennessee Wesleyan for traveling over to provide quality stats and operations... Everyone was very gracious," head coach Joey Johnson said. "Players from both teams battled hard – and as is typical with high-level competition – the match can be determined in the details."
The hometown team failed to find itself in the scorebook after accumulating 15 shots in the matchup (8-4 lead in the first half) and holding an attempt advantage of 15-13 overall.
It was a physical get-together once again within the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), and individually, Rafael Pais led the way offensively with four shots again Union. A foursome of others put together two attempts each as the Eagles (10-2, 7-2 AAC) dropped back-to-back league outings.
Tzevelekos stopped nine shots in defeat.
The club looks to rebound on Wednesday evening against Truett McConnell (Ga.) on the road at 7:30 p.m.
