Reinhardt Men's Soccer got the 2024-25 athletic season underway on the road at #5 ranked Dalton State. The Roadrunners are traditionally a Top 10 team in the NAIA so this was a tough first game for the Eagles, but it showed that they can play among the elite in the NAIA
The Eagles came up short losing 1-0, but the game was even all the way through. The Roadrunners were awarded a penalty kick in the first five minutes of the first half and this would be the only time the ball saw the back of the net. The two teams played to a stalemate the rest of the way with strong defense displayed on both sides.
Allan Tercjak started in goal for the Eagles picking up 8 saves from 9 shots on goal... Jaiden Sosa fired off two shots on goal for Reinhardt and George Kabambe had one. Several Eagles got significant minutes with Ivan Patta, Tercjak, Sosa, and, Cristian Gonzalez playing the complete game.
The Eagles showed that they can defensively hold a top team in the NAIA scoreless and this will take them far in the season. The offense will come around as the team gets to know each other and bonds are formed. Once Reinhardt starts scoring goals, the team will start making noise in the NAIA.
Reinhardt will regroup and prepare for Wednesday night's home opener vs Southern Wesleyan. RU Women's Soccer will have their home opener next Wednesday, as well, versus the University of the Cumberlands.
