David Finney
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Eagles Volleyball was in action Friday evening against conference opponent, Warner University. The Eagles were coming off a good start last weekend where they defeated two NCAA DII schools - Fort Valley State & Emmanuel College. This is a young program that is trying to develop a foundation to grow upon, however, they have started off great.
Reinhardt was able to defeat Warner in three straight sets, 25-9, 25-20, and 25-23. In the first two sets, the Eagles were able to establish a lead and hold that lead all the way through. The second was slightly closer than the first set, but they did get a lead and keep it. The third set was a little different where the Eagles would get down by a few points and have to work their way back to tie it. The third set was tied at 20 and then Reinhardt was able to go up by a couple Once they were up, they were able to finish out the game with a two-point advantage.
Coach Goodhind had this to say about the team and taking one game at a time, "Tonight we learned some more about ourselves and the things we need to continue to improve on. Our bench, Club Eagle, has amazing energy tonight! We were able to get a big conference win tonight, but all we did was go 1-0 and now it's onto tomorrow versus a very strong Webber team that is balanced with veterans and young talent. It'll be a good test for our team as Webber will be favored and is one of the stronger teams in the Mid-South Conference.
As I awkward I want to give thanks to God and All the Honor and Glory goes to Him"
The team will be back at The Brown Athletic Center for an 11 am game with Webber International and look to extend their current three-game win streak.
