Eagles Take Down the Maroon Tigers

Waleska, GA - The Eagles have a two-game win streak going and have six wins in their last ten games. The team is not concentrating on wins, but they happen when you take one game at a time and focus on the task at hand. Reinhardt found themselves in an unfamiliar spot for this game as they were the more experienced and favored team. Most of the time, the Eagles are playing catch-up to get up to speed with other programs, however, they have been able to compete and even beat more experienced programs. Tonight it was the Morehouse Maroon Tigers who were the next team on the multi one game schedules that the team is on.
The Eagles took care of business early and each set was not much of a contest. The scores were 25-9, 25-5, and 25-6 as Reinhardt would cruise for three straight sets. Several Eagles had outstanding games, but Troy Sly's numbers do stand out. Sly had 7 kills with 0 errors and also had 3 service aces. Bruno Dewes led the way with 18 assists and Ricardo Mujica had 10 digs. Dalton Fellows and Victor Pacheco had 5 kills each. Many players played great tonight and found ways to contribute to the victory.
Although the Eagles did win in three straight sets, they did so with class and great sportsmanship. The sport of men's volleyball is growing in the state of Georgia and as it does - expect more schools to add this to their list of sports like Morehouse. It is great to see teams like Morehouse start and develop their programs and they will develop over time and get more competitive. Better competition forces everyone to get better so it is a win-win for all.
The Eagles will be back on the road this Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Reinhardt will be at Warner in Lake Wells, FL, and on Saturday they will be at Webber International in Babson Park, FL. The Eagles were able to beat Warner earlier in the season and they took the more experienced Webber team to five sets the last time they met. It was a great game with a little heat added to it. Expect the competition level to be just as great this time.
