Castillo and Simon Lead the Way for Eagles Cross-Country Again!
Charlotte, NC - Reinhardt Eagles Cross Country teams were in North Carolina this Friday to compete in the loaded Queen City Invitational. The men's team cleaned house in the Open Division coming in first place and having four runners that finished in the top twelve positions. The race was an 8k just like the meet from last week at Georgia Military Invitational.
Salvador Castillo was the top Eagle coming in 5th place overall (25:57 finishing time). Tom Vincent and Braden Ray came in just behind at 7th and 8th place. Logan Ray finished up in the 12th spot giving the Eagles the score needed to make them the top team in the Open Division. Arat Joanico came in a very respectable 20th position to help add points to Reinhardt's final first-place standing.
On the women's side, Brooke Simon had another great day running coming in 3rd place overall in a talented field of over 100 runners. The women ran a 5k event where Simon finished with a time of 19:22 - which was just fourteen seconds off the overall leader. Look for Simon to be competitive like this the entire cross-country season going into the indoor season.
The Cross-Country Team will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 7th at the Royals Challenge, which will again be in Charlotte, NC at Queens University.
