David Finney
Waleska, GA - Eagles Softball was finally back home after playing several away series and tournaments. The Eagles would welcome in the Knights of St. Andrews for a Sunday afternoon doubleheader and they made the most of their home field opportunity. Reinhardt would take two games from the Knights winning game one, 11-1, and game two, 5-3. It was a great two-game performance for the Eagles which did not really show any rust from having a few days off.
Game One
In game one, Ally Andriano would get the starting job for the Eagles and she would continue her pace which she has maintained all season. When the Eagles want to shut down another team, Andriano always steps up does her job on the mound. In this game, she would scatter 6 hits over the game-shortened five innings and only allow one run.
The first two innings would be breakout sessions for the Eagles as they would score 4 in each inning and basically putting the game away. Reinhardt was able to get a few more runs in the third and fourth innings to add to the total and the Knights did not have any answers.
Alexis Teems, Jill Martinet, and Lauren Parker all went 2 for 3 in the game. Emily Loveless would go 2 for 2 and have a triple in the game. Teems and Loveless both had 3 runs scored each. Loveless, Martinet, and Ansley Evans all had doubles in this game as the Eagles would run away with the victory in this first game of two.
Game Two
Things would cool off some from what the Eagles were able to do in the first game. Bella Krauth would get the starting job pitching for the Eagles and she would pitch all seven innings recording 9 strikeouts and holding the Knights to just three runs.
Alanna Dunson would lead the Eagles in hitting as she went 3 for 3 in the DP spot. She had 2 RBIs and scored a run. Emily Loveless would have another solid game hitting 2 for 3 with one RBI and 2 runs scored. Jill Martinet would go 2 for 3 and scoring two runs and Alexis Teems would go 2 for 4 scoring one run.
The Eagles would finish their scoring after the fifth inning, but the five runs were all that needed in this game. Krauth would pitch great holding the Knights to just three runs in her seven innings of work.
The Eagles will have no time to rest as they have games on Monday and Wednesday this week. Monday's opponent will be Rio Grand for a home doubleheader match-up and then the Eagles will be on the road for another conference doubleheader at Columbia International. The Eagles will start off at 1 pm on Monday afternoon and the second game will follow immediately after game one. Come out and support the Eagles as they keep improving their winning record.
