The Eagles Earn 2 More Wins Over TWU As Season Is Coming To An End
ATHENS, TN. - As the regular season is coming to an end, the Reinhardt Eagles Softball team is sitting in a great spot as they are No. 1 in the AAC with a conference record of 21-2. The Eagles have been playing great and this double-header was no different as Reinhardt ultimately swept this 2-game series over the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs on Monday afternoon. Reinhardt took the first game 1-0 and then won the second game 3-0. Reinhardt now only have 2 doubleheaders remaining before entering the AAC Tournament next week.
Game One: Reinhardt 1, TWU 0
Game one saw a slow start for both teams as they struggled getting any of their players across home plate. The first and only run of the game came from the Eagles in the top of the 6th inning when Emily Loveless hit through the left side of the field to allow Alexis Griffith across home to take the first game 1-0.
Leaders:
- Emily Loveless led the Eagle offense, with one hit and a walk to get on base and earned the winning RBI. Ansley Evans also added 2 hits.
- Eryn Lee, Alexis Teems, and Alexis Griffith also recorded one hit.
- Alexis Griffith and Alexis Teems each stole a base.
- Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher with 3 strikeouts, only allowed 6 hits, and pitched 41 strikes.

Reinhardt was able to score 3 runs this game and kept the Bulldogs of TWU scoreless for the entirety of the game. The first 2 runs for the Eagles came from a double hit by Kyra Lightner, who scored in Kylie Freije and Emily Loveless. Then in the 3rd inning, the Eagles got another run with a grounded out by Kylie Freije. Reinhardt ultimately won 3-0 to sweep both games over Tennessee Wesleyan.
