Lake Wales, FL – The Reinhardt softball team competed in their season-opener this past Friday afternoon with a double-header at Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida. The Eagles took the 2-game sweep over the Royals earning the first game win 5-2 and then won the second 10-3 in a 6-inning game. The Eagles are now 2-0 to start the season and hope to continue their momentum after having a lights-out season the past year.
GAME ONE: Reinhardt 4, Warner 1
The game stayed scoreless up until the the fourth inning when Reinhardt was able to get 3 runs through home-plate with a big hit from Eryn Lee who was able to get 2 RBIs from her hit. Then in the following inning, RU's Jill Martinet singled to the left to get Emily Loveless to home. Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher for RU, recording 6 strikeouts and no walks.
SCORING PLAYS:
- Eryn Lee singed up right center to advance to second base, allowing Alexis Griffith and Hannah Kate Singleton across home (4th inning, 2-0).
- A throwing error by 3rd base allowed all runners to advance, including Alexis Griffith who made her way home (4th inning, 3-0).
- A single base hit from Jill Martinet allowed Emily Loveless to score (5th inning, 5-0).

GAME TWO: Reinhardt 10, Warner 2
The momentum from game one continued for the Eagles as they were able to score 10 runs to force the game to an early end of 6 innings. RU's bats were hot as 7 different batters with hits. The Eagles were first able to score 2 in the 2nd inning, 7 in the 3rd, and one more in the 4th to give the Eagles the 10-2 advantage. RU'sAlly Andriano was the winning pitcher with 2 strikeouts.
SCORING PLAYS:
- Taylor Wade singled down the left-field line to allow the first run for the Eagles (2nd inning, 1-0).
- A grounded out from RU gave Alexis Teems and RBI to go up two (2nd inning, 2-0).
- A single to center field from Alexis Griffith allowed Kylie Freije across home (3rd inning, 3-0).
- An error by the 1st baseman allowed Jill Martinet across home (3rd inning, 4-0).
- Alexis Teems singled to shortstop to allow Molly Stevens in (3rd inning, 5-0).
- Ansley Evans hit a shot up center field and earned 2 RBIs (3rd inning, 7-0).
- Another Warner error allowed another RU player to home-plate (3rd inning, 9-0)
- Molly Stevens hit a homerun to go up by 10 (4th inning, 10-0).
