Reinhardt Dominates Over the Bears of Truett McConnell

Waleska, Ga. – Reinhardt hoped to get their footing at home, in the Brown Athletic Center, against the Bears of Truett McConnell. With strong defense and teamwork, the Eagles took a home win 79-58 against the Bears.
At the start of the first period, the Eagles and the Bears fought for the lead as multiple turnovers and missed opportunities set both teams back. The score was at a standstill at 4-9 with Eagles up, as there were no shots on the board for four minutes. With 3:33 on the clock, Emilee Swafford made a jump shot to secure the Eagles lead 11-4. However, missed shots helped the Bears grab the lead 18-15 to start the second quarter.
The Eagles took a slow start which led the Bears to take advantage to hold the lead 24-19. Again, from both sides of the court, no shots were made for three minutes, as each team had missed opportunities. The Eagles shot 21% at the three-point line to the Bears 50%. Also, the Eagles had 10 turnovers to the Bears 11. This would set the standard for the remainder of the period as the Bears held the lead 35-29 headed into half-time.
After the half, the Eagles showed up as Katrice Jackson and Brylee Puckett each put two on the board to make the score 35-33. With two minutes of no action, the Eagles looked to make a point as they controlled the third period, as the Bears struggled on the board with Eagles up 48-45. With the help from Brook Grinstead, the Eagles looked to hold the lead 51-47 after Grinstead shot a buzzer beater entering fourth quarter.
The home team did not stop there, as their defense stayed strong to help hold the Bears at 53 points for three minutes to Reinhardt's 65. Catherine Shope and Abi Haynes lead the Eagle board as the Eagles outscored the Bears in the fourth quarter 28-11 to get the home win!

- Abi Haynes led the board with 14 points and 9 rebounds and 6 steals.
- Brooke Grinstead had 12 points and Catherine Shope dropped 11 points.
Reinhardt travles to Kingsport, TN. for a Thanksgiving Showcase as they face West Virginia University Tech with tip-off set for 4:15pm on November 27th.
