WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The scoreboard only turned once on Saturday night in Kentucky in a tough road test for Reinhardt women's soccer against Cumberlands (Ky.), as the Patriots protected their home turf in a 1-0 victory over the Eagles with a 23rd-minute goal.
The host school would be able to keep Reinhardt scoreless throughout as the Eagles tallied six shots and two shots on target.
"Our team is continuing to grow and make great progress," head coach Andy Kaplan said. "The Cumberlands are definitely a top 20 team and tonight's game could have gone either way. We can't wait to play tomorrow."
Abby Vicencio-Aguilar and Adriana Garcia each led the way with two shots. On defense, Caroline Johnson made a half-dozen stops in the narrow defeat.
Reinhardt (1-2) hopes to get back to its winning ways tomorrow afternoon against Rochester (Mich.) at 4:30 p.m.
