WALESKA, Ga. – Women's soccer came back to the comfortable confines of Ken White Field at University Stadium against Columbia (S.C.) on Saturday, and came away victorious with a 4-0 blanking of the Koalas.
Reinhardt is back in the win column at 6-5-1, including a 4-2-1 record inside the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
The Eagles outshot their visitors by 20 and jumped on the board in the fourth minute as Se Se Ruetten found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead early on. Reinhardt would continue to dominate ball possession but would go into the locker room with the slim advantage of just one goal.
The flood gates would open early in the second half, however, as the hometown team would find the goal three times in just over two minutes of action. Adriana Garcia would double the lead in the 62nd minute before Brianna Smotherman would tally back-to-back scores at 63:23 and 63:58, respectively.
Both of Smotherman's scores were assisted by Adrien Merrilles.
"Our team gave a very solid performance today," head coach Andy Kaplan said. "Columbia played a very defensive system, and our team showed great patience in breaking it down. I'm glad to say everyone on our roster contributed positively when they were on the field."
Now its on to the road for three-consecutive outings beginning on Oct. 9 in Tennessee against Bryan.
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
