Ruetten and Wells Take Weekly Awards

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Sierra Ruetten of Reinhardt and Ryelyn Wells of Reinhardt are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

This is the seventh edition of the awards for the 2021 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Oct. 18.

AAC Defensive Player of the Week
Sierra Ruetten - Reinhardt - Senior - Marietta, Ga.

  • Anchored the Reinhardt defense which allowed two goals in going 2-0 on the week.
  • The Reinhardt defense limited Bryan (Tenn.) to seven shots and Columbia (S.C.) to five.
  • Scored a hat trick in the 6-1 win over Columbia
  • This is her first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Offensive Player of the Week
Ryelyn Wells - Reinhardt - Junior - Canton, Ga.

  • Had three goals and two assists on the week, helping Reinhardt to a 2-0 record.
  • Netted a goal in the 3-1 win over Bryan (Tenn.).
  • Collected two goals and two assists in the 6-1 win over Columbia (S.C.).
  • Accounted for the game-winner against Columbia.
  • This is her second weekly honor of the season.

Columbia International (S.C.) is up next on the schedule on Wednesday at 3 p.m. on Ken White Field at University Stadium.
