Eagles Soccer "Holding AAC Opponents Scoreless" Streak Continues...
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Women's Soccer keeps on rolling through their AAC schedule. They have yet to give up a single goal in all of conference play so far. The defense led by goalkeeper Sarah Bambrick and center-back Adriana Garcia has made it tough for AAC opponents to even cross half field in most games. Ella Higdon, Ashley Frye, and Sarah Bruce are just a few of the names on the backline that keep attackers at bay.
Saturday's game was senior day for a talented group of five seniors for Coach Kaplan. Adriana Garcia, Jade Seery, Kira Council, Channing Pantano, and Kirsten Gray are all in their final season with Eagles Soccer and were recognized at halftime of the game to show their appreciation for what each of them has done for the soccer program. They still have several games left in the season so their time is not up just yet, but Reinhardt University is very proud of these seniors' accomplishments over the past four years.
First Half
The Eagles got going early as Carrie Consolino continued her hot goal-scoring streak in the first two minutes of the game. She was assisted by Channing Pantano on the goal. Consolino would actually get a hat trick in the game which she has done in a few games this season. She is solid upfront and can score at any moment in the game.
Moments later, Pantano would get rewarded with an assist from Madeline Myers for her first goal of the game. Pantano would get another goal later in the second half to record two goals in the game.
In total, the Eagles had six goals in the first half and possessed the ball a majority of the time, and ripped shots at the Knights goalkeepers the entire game. Marta Vicente-Arche, Adriana Garcia, Ryelyn Wells, and Consolino's second goal finished out the scoring in the first half for the 6-0 halftime lead. Wells' goal was a nice header from a cross from Ella Higdon. Kria Council assisted Vincente-Arche's goal on a drive up the left side of the field where she crossed it to a running in Vincente-Arche for a slammer in the back of the net. Garcia's goal was unassisted and it was a rip from about 30 yards out.
Second Half
The second-half scoring would slow some and Coach Kaplan was able to get several of the reserve players some playing time on the field. Consolino, Wells, and Pantano all picked up the second-half goals and each were multi-goal scorers in the game. Consolino's third goal of the game came early in the second half and she was assisted by the active midfielder, Aryn Parrish. Pantano's second goal of the game came about midway through the second half. Wells' goal came from a penalty kick late in the second half.
Madeline Myers was able to pick up two assists in the game to lead the Eagles.
Wrap Up
Sarah Bambrick had a slow day in goal with only one shot saved and she was able to extend to almost half field to become an extra defender to help rotate the ball around. The back line did a great job at keeping the ball and working it from side to side until an opening occurred up the line or in the middle. The team passed the ball around and they had several quick wall pass plays to set up potential shots on goal.
The Eagles will be at home again on Wednesday late afternoon when Bryan College comes to Ken White Field. It should be a great night of soccer for the Eagles fan base with the Men's Team immediately following the Women's game.
