WVB’s Ashlynn Barnes Named NAIA Setter of the Week - TOP HONORS
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kendra Bittle of Corban (Ore.) has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Attacker of the Week, Sadie Byrd of Southern Oregon has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week and Ashlynn Barnes of Reinhardt (Ga.) has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week. The trio was selected based on their performances from September 9-15 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.
Players of the Week are announced weekly throughout the regular season on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram and X.
NAIA Women's Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Kendra Bittle, Corban (Ore.) – SO – Outside Hitter
- Posted 38 total kills in the teams three wins last week for an average of 3.45 kills per set
- Set a new career-high of 17 kills against conference opponent No. 5 Southern Oregon
- Recorded an attack percentage of 0.245
- Helped her team to five straight conference victories after last week's wins over Bushnell (Ore.), Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech
NAIA Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week
Sadie Byrd, Southern Oregon – SR – Middle Blocker
- Totaled 19 blocks last week
- Averaged 2.11 blocks per set after two matches
- Recorded a new school record with 14 assisted blocks against Bushnell (Ore.) for an average of 3.5 blocks per set
- Helped her team to a 1-1 week with a win over Bushnell and loss to No. 9 Corban
NAIA Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week
Ashlynn Barnes, Reinhardt (Ga.) – JR - Setter
- Recorded 87 assists on the week and averaged 12.43 assists per set
- Posted a week-high of 55 assists in the team's match against Truett McConnell (Ga.)
- In the same match, the junior posted a double-double with 55 assists and 18 digs
- Helped her team to a 2-0 week with wins over Truett-McConnell and Columbia (S.C.)
