Eagles Pick Up Two More Wins in Weekend Tri-Match

Waleska, GA - On Saturday, RU Women's Volleyball hosted a tri-match with the Knights of St. Andrews and the Skyhawks of Point University. The Eagles faced St, Andrews in the first match of the day, coming out on top, 3-0. St. Andrews and Point played the middle game, and the night ended with Reinhardt facing an old AAC in-state rival, Point.  The two battled hard in a five-set thriller, with the Eagles edging out Point 3-2.  The wins set the new win streak at 18 games!

Match One: RU vs St Andrews Knights, 3-0 Win

In an impressive display of dominance, the Reinhardt University Eagles secured a straight-set victory against St. Andrews Knights in their latest Appalachian Athletic Conference clash on October 26, 2024, in Waleska. The Eagles showcased their prowess, winning 3-0 with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-11 respectively.

Highlighting the match, Breah Watson led the attack with formidable power, accumulating 6 kills and 5 blocks, making her an essential contributor to the team's success. Supporting her were Jenna Smith and Natalie Klein, who added 5 and 3 kills to the tally. The defensive efforts were bolstered by Giulia Julve's 9 digs, Lexi Vo's 8, and both Silvia Aguado and Sophia St. Clair contributing 5 digs each.

The service line was a major strength for Reinhardt as Halle Janik delivered a crucial performance with 4 aces, sparking significant momentum shifts during the final set. Her efforts, complemented by Aguado's 3 aces and Zurina Restrepo's 2, were critical in securing the sweep. Meanwhile, Ashlynn Barnes and Janik facilitated the offense with 10 and 18 assists, respectively.

Match Two: RU vs Point University, 3-2 Win

In an exhilarating face-off at Waleska, the Reinhardt University Eagles clinched a narrow victory against the Point Skyhawks in an AAC volleyball event on October 26, 2024. The match concluded with a tight scoreline of Reinhardt 3, Point 2, propelling the Eagles to a commendable season record of 19-4 and maintaining an undefeated streak of 14-0 in the conference.

The match kicked off with a gritty first set, where Reinhardt edged out Point with a 26-24 victory, setting a competitive tone for the evening. Despite a setback in the second set with a close 20-25 loss, the Eagles rallied in the third set to dominate the Skyhawks 25-17. The fourth set saw another nail-biter, with Point narrowly taking the win 29-27. However, it was the final set that truly highlighted the Eagles' determination, as they finished strong with a 15-11 win, underscored by pivotal plays from Giulia Julve and Breah Watson.

Among the standout performers, Jenna Smith led the charge with an impressive tally of 20 kills, supported by Giulia Julve and Breah Watson who secured 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Watson also dominated defensively with 8 blocks. The defensive efforts were bolstered by Silvia Aguado with a remarkable 36 digs, while also contributing 3 aces to the Eagles' cause. The match's assisting duties were masterfully handled by Ashlynn Barnes who provided 63 assists, ensuring the Eagles remained competitive throughout the confrontation.

The key moment came at the end of Set 5, with the Eagles making consecutive points to seal their victory. This pivotal sequence allowed Reinhardt University to maintain its flawless conference record, underscoring its dominance and cohesion as a team this season.
