Eagles Wrap Up the 2025 Season in the NAIA Opening Round
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Baseball wrapped up its 2025 baseball season slightly earlier than expected. The Eagles went into the Waleska Bracket of the NAIA Opening Round as the number one team, but a few setbacks in games two and three sent the team packing up for the summer. It wasn't the best way to end the season, however, the team had many accomplishments and exciting moments along the way that will make this a memorable season.
After giving up game two to #2 Loyola University, the Eagles went from #1 to having to play for their season in every game moving forward. Reinhardt faced the #4-seeded Ave Maria in Wednesday's first game of the day, but things didn't go their way. Some of the same mistakes that were made in the loss to Loyola were made again in the must-win game with Ave Maria.
Some of the highlights of the game were the two solo home runs by seniors Luca Boscarino and Jacob Mantooth. Mantooth played his final collegiate game, hitting 3 for 3 with an RBI. Boscarino was 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs.
Senior Brent Turley had a good showing for the Eagles, pitching two innings in relief. He struck out one batter and only allowed one hit in his innings.
Reinhardt will not say goodbye to a talented group of thirteen seniors: Adrian Vargas, Jacob Mantooth, Barry Eiseman, Luca Boscarino, Hunter Paulsen, Nash Crowell, Brett Allen, Andrew Herbert, Ryan Stephens, Woody Barks, Ben Medley, Evan Venable, and Brent Turley.
This class of players has accomplished a lot over their time at Reinhardt. They are two-time AAC Regular Season Champs, and they made it to the 2024 NAIA World Series, where they came inches away from winning the National Title.
• Nash Crowell broke the all-time home record (held by Tucker Zdunich) this season, where he finished with 60 in his three seasons with the Eagles.
• Andrew Herbert ended his career as a two-time All-American (maybe three, once the 2025 All-Americans are released) and became the all-time wins leader and strikeout leader for Reinhardt Baseball. He finishes this season with a 1.88 ERA, which is fourth best in the NAIA.
• Brett Allen became the all-time saves leader in a season with 11 saves. The 11 saves are the fourth-best in the NAIA this season. He ended his career with 19 total saves in two seasons with the Eagles.
Reinhardt will get going on the recruiting process immediately in order to get the new batch of Eagles for the fall 2025 semester. Assistant Coach Brett Lindsey will take over for Head Coach Jonathan Burton starting on July 1st. Burton announced that Wednesday's loss in the NAIA Opening Round would be his last baseball game as a collegiate coach. He will assume the role of Executive Director of Athletics for Reinhardt University moving forward, where he will put his personal touches on all the sports programs.
