Former Standout Morgan McGhee Picked to Lead Women's Lacrosse
Waleska, GA - Executive Director of Athletics Jonathan Burton announced on Friday the hiring of Morgan McGhee to lead Reinhardt Women's Lacrosse. McGhee is a former All-American and standout performer for the Eagles.
McGhee played for the Eagles from 2018 - 2022 and was a three-time NAIA All-American. She led the country in assists in her senior season with 65 total. Over her career at Reinhardt, she totaled 159 assists. She was also a scoring machine, netting 233 total goals and leading the Eagles to three straight NAIA National Tournaments. She is the all-time program leader in goals, assists, ground balls (327), and draw controls (329)
Since graduating in 2022, McGhee has been working in the private sector, where she specializes in digital marketing. She has also coached club lacrosse in the Atlanta area over the past three years long with serving as the interim head coach at Creekview High School.
Although this will be her first experience as a college head coach, her experience as one of the best NAIA Lacrosse players and her time coaching at the club team level will enable her to continue the success of the Eagles Women's Lacrosse program. She is familiar with the history of the program at Reinhardt and knows which players to bring in to put her stamp on the program. Reinhardt is coming off another season in which they made the NAIA National Tournament and is one year removed from winning the NAIA National Championship.
Burton had this to say about McGhee taking over the program, "I am excited to announce Morgan as our next head women's lacrosse coach. As a player, she was an All-American and helped lay the foundation for what it has become today. I look forward to watching her put her stamp on a program that she helped build as a player. We are excited to have her and look forward to supporting her in any way that we can."
McGhee will begin her coaching duties immediately as the recruiting season is in full swing. Her connections to local club lacrosse and high school programs will ensure that she will be able to bring in the top-level talent that Reinhardt Women's Lacrosse has traditionally achieved. McGhee added this about her opportunity to lead the Eagles, "It's an incredible honor to return to a program that shaped me, as a player and now as head coach. I'm beyond excited to lead this team and continue the legacy of excellence that defines Reinhardt Women's Lacrosse. Go Eagles!"
Reinhardt Athletics is excited to have Morgan McGhee back in the mix to lead Reinhardt Women's Lacrosse. Welcome home and Go Eagles!
